The 1850 census for Andrew and Nancy Ingram Smith was taken on September 3, 1850 in Carroll County, Georgia. Enumerated with the Smiths are their children: Margaret (18), Sarah (16), Martha (14), Nancy (13), Catherine (10), and Stephen (6).

By 1857, the Smith family had moved to Cass County, Texas because eldest daughter, Margaret, was married to George Burtrand (Bertrand). Neither Margaret nor George Burtrand are found in the 1860 census.

Three years later in 1860, Martha married M.R. Pettington also in Cass County.

Catherine, in 1861, married Marquis de Lafayette Fulgham in Cass County.

In 1867, Nancy married Thomas Collins in Cass County.

Finally, Sarah married Thomas A. Gibson in 1871, also in Cass County.

The only daughters found in the 1860 census are Catherine and Sarah, who were found enumerated with her parents. Close neighbors to the Smith family were Fulgham siblings, including M.D.L. Fulgham. Although not enumerated in the 1870 census, there is the marriage record for Sarah Smith to Thomas A. Gibson in 1871. I believe Andrew and Nancy Smith stayed in Cass County until at least 1875, where he is listed on the county tax rolls.

Margaret, Martha, Nancy and Sarah all disappear from the historical records between 1860-1871.
